Treasures of Heaven in the Stuff of Earth
Published in Paperback by Creation House (December, 2000)
Author: Babbie Mason
Average review score:

This is the perfect gift! The stories are inspiring!
I've always enjoyed Babbie Mason as a well-accomplished inspirational singer and songwriter! Therefore, it does not surprise me that she has put together some of the most inspiring stories that I have come across in recent years (and I absolutely love reading biographies and true stories). If you enjoyed reading stories from the "Chicken Soup for the Soul" series, then you'll absolutely love Babbie's biographical-styled book. It is truly a treasure worth keeping.
The only complaint I have concerning this book is that I can not put it down...(then again, that's not a complaint but a compliment towards Babbies wonderful wit, humor, and down-to-earth way with words). I've read "Treasures of Heaven, Stuff of Earth" several times and have given several away as birthday and Christmas gifts. You will relate to the "stuff of earth" and learn to treasure it once you read this book.

Turning Wood into Art : The Jane and Arthur Mason Collection
Published in Hardcover by Harry N Abrams (May, 2000)
Authors: Suzanne Ramljak, Michael W. Monroe, Mark Richard Leach, and Mint Museum of Craft + Design
Average review score:

Turning Love into a Gift
The collection that the Masons have built out of a love of art, craftmanship and wood turns into a real gift to those who do not have the luxury to study these pieces first-hand. The photos of their home shows that their attraction with creation is not limited to wood but to light, paintings and melding life with art.

The photos display the pieces so well that some just seem to glow and brighten on the page. It makes it difficult to look at a tree or salad bowl without imagining the possiblities.

Two Against the Ice, Amundsen and Ellsworth
Published in Hardcover by Dodd Mead (December, 1982)
Author: Theodore K. Mason
Average review score:

"Two Against the Ice",an inspirational work of art
This book is a true masterpiece; an adventure book which is as readable as it is fascinating. Whilst it tells of true-to-life danger on an ill-fated expedition to arctic Greenland its language is both unpretentious and highly accurate, but it is not remotely dull. When reading this book one feels a most desperate urge to not only go to Greenland but also to indulge in the sometimes reckless activities of Amundsen and Ellsworth. Unfortunately this is an adventure from a forgotten age, when icebreakers could not sail to the north pole, helicopters did not patrol the North Atlantic and satelite-phones did not provide constant contact with the "real world". The book shows, beautifully, the danger of this perilous situation without wallowing in the courage of its subjects, Amundsen and Ellsworth. For this reason I believe that it is a fantastic book to be read and cherished.

Two Tickets for Tangiers
Published in Hardcover by Doubleday (June, 1955)
Author: Francis Van Wyck Mason
Average review score:

A Lot Of Help From Lady Angela Forrester
Colonel Hugh North is sent to Tangier. His mission is to locate a German scientist named Franz Vogel who has been working in Russia since the end of World War II.

Vogel has invented a deadly new gas called "thulium - X.' He has carried the formula for the gas only in his head. Since escaping from Russia, Vogel has been hiding in Tangier. Marya Bessemer, a German lady whose main occupation has been dealing in forged passports, has been acting as a broker for Vogel.

Marya is now interested primarily in making as much money as possible for herself on any transaction involving the formula.

North is delayed enroute from London to Tangier because of a plane crash at sea. He survives the crash and recuperates in Paris. Meanwhile an imposter arrives in Tangier and negotiates with Marya for the formula. The imposter is really Major Reginald Travis, formerly of Her Majesty's Grenadier Guards.

Since being dismissed from the service because of a scandal, Travis has been working as a spy for Moscow.

Major Travis meets with Vogel and manages to get the formula which Vogel puts into writing. He makes only one copy. Travis then kills Vogel and goes under cover in Tangier while he waits for a meeting with the notorious Russian agent Ilya Kyushev, the paymaster for this job.

North has a big challenge waiting for him in Tangier. First he has to convince the local authorities that he is the real Colonel North. Next he has to track down Travis before he hands over the formula to Kyushev. North gets a lot of help on this case from Lady Angela Forrester, a British intelligence operative.

Two Travelers
Published in School & Library Binding by Henry Holt & Company (May, 1990)
Authors: Christopher Manson and Christopher Mason
Average review score:

Isaac and Abulabaz find the true meaning of friendship.
Isaac, an emissary for Charlemange, is sent
to Baghdad to bring tidings of peace to
the Caliph. The Caliph accepts with the
return offering of Abulabaz the elephant.
Isaac must now find his way back to
France--with the elephant. Together the
two travelers manage to finish their
journey and become fast friends in the
process.

Manson relies on a delicate, conspiratorial
voice to convey the thoughts and apprehnsions
of both Isaac and Abulabaz, allowing the
reader to gain insight into both beings'
perspectives. His bright colored pencil and
watercolor illustrations add clever details
to the text, such as Isaac and Abulabaz
peering at each other out of the corners
of their eyes upon their first meeting.
Manson also incorporates important cultural
details by accurately representing cultures,
clothing, and settings. The combination of
voice and artwork makes Two Travelers an
apporchable, friendly book appropriate for
young children.
